The mission of Atlanta Montessori Teacher Education (AMTE) is to prepare caring adults for a career in Montessori Education. AMTE's teacher preparation program is based upon the Montessori Philosophy and integrated with research based, developmentally appropriate teaching and learning practices. Our program meets the diverse educational needs of adult learners through a respectful partnership which models the Montessori learning process. The goal of AMTE is to help students achieve competency with Montessori curriculum, teaching methodology, classroom management, community building, and communication skills that meet the needs of today's changing and challenging classrooms.

- The student will be able to demonstrate knowledge and practical ability in implementing Montessori philosophy, theory and methodology.
- The student will be able to utilize pertinent research based findings in the field of child development, especially related to the 2 1/2 - 6 year old child.
- The student will develop insights and skills necessary to respectfully work with individual children in a changing and challenging environment.
- The student will become a team member within a learning community comprised of children, parents, co-workers and school administrators. The student will articulate appropriate communication skills needed for cohesive community building.
